Tune: Cowboy's Lament      Words by Ginger Hulsopple   Use same chords throughout

    G               C               G
As I walked out in the Whispering Woodlands
                    C               G           D
As I walked out on the trail one day
     G                     C                 G
I spied a young warrior all wrapped in white linen
                                 C            D                 G
Wrapped in white linen, as cold as the clay.

         G                 C               G
2. "I see by your garbin' that you are a warrior."
                                   C            G                 D
These words he did say as I boldly passed by.
             G                C                   G
"Come sit down beside me and hear my sad story,
                           C                      D         G
For I'm a brave warrior and I'm dyin' today."

               G            C                   G
3. "Our party did meet up with three giant troll-men
                                 C                 G                         D
We answered their riddles and gave them some meat
           G                C                 G
Then onward we walked out upon the green trail-o
                           C                   D         G
Upon the green trail, our next foe to beat."

                G               C                     G
4. "Then boldly approached us, a Knight all in checkers
                   C             G            D
A favor he had for to ask of us so:
            G             C              G
"Pray give me a warrior to sacrifice quickly!
                     C               D                G
I swear to return him to life e'er we go!"

               G            C                   G
5. "And quickly I stepped up to meet his dire challenge.
                            C                 G                    D
His sword it did flash in the bright summer sun.
       G         C               G
My body, it fell and my life, it did leave me,
                        C                D               G
But soon I will live, for the test I have won!"

               G               C                       G
6. The Knight all in checkers then touched the young warrior
                                C                     G                    D
And brought him to life and these words he did say:
       G           C             G
"I resurrect you, sir! A noble deed done, sir!
                        C                         D        G
A noble deed done, and you're livin' today!"

             G                       C             G
7. Oh! beat the drum slowly and play the pipe lowly
                           C                G                 D
And honor the deeds of the warrior who fell
       G                 C             G
And tell the tale over and sing of his glory
                                  C                  D                G
And thank the Rulemaker for the Resurrect Spell!
