Eddystone Light
Back when I played the guitar, this was one of the first songs I learned.  I still have fun with it.

C
Me father was the keeper of the Eddystone Light
                 F              G              C
And he wed with a mermaid one fine night
C
From this union there came three
     F                          G                      C
A porpoise, and a porgy, and the other was me.

Chorus:
G
Yo ho ho, the wind blows free
                                    C
Oh for the life of the rovin’ sea!

C
One night as I was a-trimmin’ o’ the glens
        F            G                 C
A-singin’ a verse of the evening hymn
C
A voice from the starboard shouted “Ahoy!”
           F                    G            C
And there was me mither a-sittin’ on a bouy.       Chorus

C
Oh! What has become of my children three?
        F          G              C
Me mither then she asked of me
C
One was exhibited as a talking fish
            F             G                   C
The other was served on a chafing dish!      Chorus

C
The phosphorus flashed in her seaweed hair
       F            G              C
I  looked again – me mither wasn’t there!
C
A voice came echoing out of the night:
       F                   G                     C
To hell with the keeper of the Eddystone Light!  Chorud
