The Goblin Lads - A Bard's Tale
wav file  Real Audio file

Words & music © 1999 Ginger Hulsopple  This really is a Bard's Tale, inspired by the antics of the Goblin Horde that played at Excalibur Faire in March 2000.  They really added to the story and the atmosphere.  Morgan le Fey couldn't have had better minions!   Huzzah, lads!

Am                    Gm      Am
A goblin king upon the hill
        Gm                       E7
He looked about and sighed (sigh)
          Am                Gm
"Oh, were I king of human lands
       Am         E7             Am
'Tis then I'd stand with pride!
Am                          Gm      Am
I'd have a crown of purest gold -
       Gm                     E7
Not iron or wood or stone!
      Am                      Gm
I'd have the softest robes for miles,
            Am   E7      Am
And I'd sit upon a throne!"

Chorus:
 Am                                      Gm                              Am
Hey!  Ho! the Goblin lads, stomping through the night! (stomp, stomp)
Am                                    Gm        E7           Am
Hey! Ho! the Goblin lads cannot  stand the light!
  F                                G                         Am             G            Am
Lock your windows - Bar your doors against their gruesome blight.
         Am                              Gm
The Goblin lads are on the town -
       Am             E7          Am
So keep your lanterns bright!

2.   A woman's voice spoke from the air
"If thou dost wish to rule,
Then serve me well, and I shall give you
Magic for a tool!"
The Goblin called unto him then
From deep within the wood
And gathered there his goblin horde -
For man he meant no good!     Chorus

3.  And when the goblins gathered all
The witch did make them sleep
Hers they befame to do her deeds
Their souls she meant to keep!
The spell was cast and they awoke
and much to their dismay
No longer could they rove at night
But now must face the day!     Chorus

4.  Oh, havoc foul they meant to wreak
Upon this kingdom fair,
But for the king and people stood
A mage who was quite rare.
He caught the witch within a web -
She fell down to the floor.
Now the goblins dance in darkest night
And chance the day no more!     Chorus

5.  S goblin king upon the hill
He looked about and sighed (sigh)
"No more for me the human lands,
For 'tis there the sun doth bide!"   Chorus
