Mary Mac
A Traditional Irish Tongue Twister Song - this one takes a LOT of practice to do well. (Though mess ups can be hilarious...) The trick is to start slowly, enunciating each word exactly and in rythm, then get faster as the words "fit" more comfortably on your tongue. Also, playing the two chords in between verses will let you catch your breath - and composure. It is really possible to approach light speed with practice.Am
There's a nice wee lass and her name's Mary Mac
G
Make no mistake - She's the lass I'm gonna tak'
Am
There's a lot of other fellas that would get up on her trackBut I'm thinkin' that they'll have to get up early!
Chorus:
Am
Oh! Mary Mac's father's making Mary Mac marry me
G
My father's making me marry Mary Mac
Am
And I'm gonna to marry Mary to get married and take care of me
G Am
We'll all be making merry when I marry Mary Mac
Am
Now this wee lass she has a lot of brass
G
She has a lot of gas and her father thinks I'm class
Am
So I'd be a silly ass to let the matter pass. Her father thinks she suits me fairly Chorus...
Am
Now Mary and her Mither gang an awful lot together
G
In fact you never see the one or the one without the other
Am
And the fellows often wonder if it's Mary or her mitherOr the both of them together that I'm courtin' Chorus...
Am
Now the wedding day's on Wednesday and everything's arranged
G
Her name will soon be changed to mine unless her mind be changed
Am
And we're making the arrangements and I'm just a bit derangedFor marriage is an awful undertakin' Chorus...
Am
It's sure to be a grand affair and grander than a fair
G
There's going to be a coach and pair for every couple there
Am
We'll dine upon the finest fare I'm sure to get my shareIf I don't we'll all be very much mistaken Chorus...
