King Slaughter's Tale
Words & music © 1999 Ginger Hulsopple  A Bard’s eye view of the abduction of King Slaughter by Lord Carnage in an attempt to restore the balance…

Am                                            D              Am
The darkened throne stands silent and grim
        G              Am        C
No King doth grace it now
         Am                               G           Am
The man in the mask did raise his cloak
         C                  E7
'Tis true, sir, I do vow!
          Am                          G              Am
Then vanished away in darksome flash
         Am              G         E7
And stilled were all his men
Am                                 G            Am
The King is gone and who can say
Am                    F         Am
How he will return or when...

Am                                        D          Am
His Captain true and the Mage of Death
          G         Am        C
Did seek him in the west
Am                                                 G                   Am
And found they a man, though shackled and bound
         C                                 E7
The king's dark side confessed
 Am                     G             Am
Yet far away a young lad sang
Am                     G         E7
And knew the touch of love
Am                                          G           Am
Two sides of the man who held the throne
Am                 F         Am
The demon and the dove.

Am                               D         Am
The King had a battle to be fought
          G           Am           C
Between the dark and light
         Am                                        G          Am
The pow'r of heaven and the strength of hell
         C                         E7
The left path and the right
        Am                           G        Am
The man in the mask illusion played
Am                G         E7
To bring a balance true
            Am                              G           Am
For the Land would need a leader strong
            Am            F            Am
As the winds of war, they blew.

Am                                      D        Am
The King returned to his castle gate
                       G        Am            C
Though the demon was still strong
Am                                      G                  Am
Its power he used for the kingdom he loved
         C                         E7
To right all that was wrong
Am                                        G       Am
The man in the mask did fade away
Am                G       E7
To find the olden ones
Am                                                  G                         Am
Now the Land & its King could meet what would come
Am                      F       Am
E’er the setting of the sun.
