Whiskey In The Jar
Traditional Irish - This is one of the most familiar irish songs.  It has been done by most groups, and recently by Metallica - as you will be reminded whenever you do it at a bardic!  There are several versions to be found with different combinations of weapons, places and names.

   G                                    Em
As I was going over the Killgarry mountain
   C                                                    G                      Em
I met with captain Farrell and his money he was counting.
     C                                      G                   Em
I rattled me pistols, and I drew forth me saber.
                  C                               G                   Em
Sayin’ stand and deliver, for I am a bold deceiver,

                                 D7
Chorus:   Musha ringuma durrama da

Whack fol the daddy-o whack fol the daddy-o there's whiskey in the jar

      G                                              Em
I counted out his money, and it made a pretty penny.

I put it in my pocket and I brought it home to Jenny.
  C                                                      G                       Em
She said and she swore, that she never would deceive me,
               C                                               G                   Em
But the divil take the women, for they never can be easy        Chorus

      G                                          Em
I went into my chamber, for to take a slumber,
       C                                                   G                      Em
I dreamt of gold and jewels and for sure it was no wonder.
         C                                                   G                           Em
But Jenny took my charges and she filled them up with water,
          C                                             G                     Em
And sent for captain Farrel to be ready for the slaughter.     Chorus

     G                                          Em
It was early in the morning, before I rose to travel,
           C                                                 G                           Em
The guards were all around me and likewise Captain Farrel.
    C                                                   G                      Em
I first produced my pistol, for she stole away my rapier,
            C                                            G                     Em
But I couldn't shoot the water so a prisoner I was taken.    Chorus

     G                                          Em
If anyone can aid me, it's my brother in the army,
  C                                      G                 Em
If I can find his station in Cork or in Killarney.
       C                                                           G                    Em
And if he'll come and save me, we'll go roving near Kilkenny,
             C                                                        G                       Em
and I swear he'll treat me better than me darling sporting Jenny.    Chorus

            G                                             Em
Now some men take delight in the drinking and the roving,
        C                                        G                            Em
But others take delight in the gambling and the smoking.
      C                                 G               Em
But I take delight in the juice of the barley,
           C                                            G                            Em
And courting pretty lasses in the morning bright and early        Chorus
